The facility was engineered around the MECC’s packed and deployed configurations. When packed for transport the entire workshop with tyre equipment is secured inside the container envelope, ready for air cargo, ship, rail or road transportation. The MECC operating procedure uses winch-driven wings, levelling jacks, and highly specialised fabric covers, enabling a protected workspace to be created from the transportable ISO form without exposing the core workshop equipment.

Specialist Tyre Tooling Supports Heavy Military Wheel Assembly Maintenance Operations

The equipment set is purpose-built for heavy tyre work, including a Hutchinson large tyre mounting machine, Hutchinson run-flat horizontal press, COATS truck tyre changer, high volume air compressor, LoadMate chain hoist, cantilever jib crane, tyre cage, lubricator, exhaust fan, heater, air conditioner and fire extinguisher. This gives maintainers the lifting, hydraulic pressing, demounting, inflation and safety systems needed for large military wheel assemblies.

The MECC TMF electrical package was designed for rapid deployment, temporary and relocatable tyre maintenance facilities, with a 100-amp, 120/208-volt, three-phase, four-wire distribution panel, factory-assembled copper wiring, integrated lighting, outlets and equipment circuits. It can operate from primary power or its supplied 20.4 kW generator, while a three-phase monitor protects the compressor, COATS machine, rim splitter and Hutchinson equipment from phase loss, low voltage and phase reversal.

Forward tyre rotation and repair improve fleet availability by turning tyre faults into maintainable events rather than vehicle-loss events.
