Weatherhaven has spent over 40 years delivering turnkey shelter systems into the world’s most challenging environments, and this experience proved critical in Chile. When the need arose for five rapidly deployable 100-bed field hospitals, our teams mobilized immediately, activating global supply chains, surge manufacturing capacity, and experienced installation crews. Drawing on decades of expeditionary, military, and humanitarian deployments, we delivered safe, fully integrated hospital systems on accelerated timelines, without compromising performance or quality.

From Arctic installations to multinational peacekeeping missions, Weatherhaven’s legacy is built on logistics mastery and execution under pressure. For Chile’s Ministerio de Salud (MINSAL), we coordinated phased production, containerized transport, and sequenced delivery intervals to ensure continuous readiness. Our integrated approach; design, manufacture, transport, installation, and commissioning, enabled multiple 100-bed complexes to be deployed efficiently. This depth of experience allowed us to execute confidently during global supply constraints and testing operational conditions

At the core of each hospital was the robust Series 4 softwall shelter system, engineered for rapid deployment and long-term reliability. These galvanized steel-framed, fully insulated shelters provided waterproof, fire-retardant, UV-stabilized protection in climates ranging from -30°C to +60°C. Raised hard-floor systems, washable interior liners, and modular end-to-end complexing ensured hygienic, flexible clinical spaces optimized for patient care and operational efficiency.

Infectious disease management was a defining technical priority. Each hospital incorporated stretcher-compatible airlocks and advanced HEPA-based filtration systems to maintain negative pressure within isolation wards. The integration of the Beth-El FA 2000 HSZ filtration technology provided high-capacity filtered airflow and NBC-level collective protection, helping contain airborne pathogens and safeguard staff and patients. This turnkey environmental control solution transformed deployable shelters into fully compliant infectious-disease treatment environments.

A containerized central corridor system formed the operational backbone of each complex. Standard 20-foot ISO containers served dual roles—transporting equipment to site before becoming hardened corridor links with insulated interconnectors. This design minimized shipping volume, eliminated surplus materials on site, and ensured protected internal circulation for patients and staff, enhancing workflow, infection control, and overall mission readiness.

Power, water, and environmental systems were engineered for autonomous operation. Redundant generator banks with automatic transfer switches guaranteed uninterrupted electricity, critical for ICU and life-support equipment. Pre-harnessed electrical kits, 220V/50Hz compliance, split-system air conditioning, and integrated water storage bladders created self-sufficient infrastructure. By combining plug-and-play electrical systems with modular HVAC and filtration, Weatherhaven delivered hospitals that were operational immediately upon commissioning.

Installation efficiency and lifecycle support were equally vital to project success. Prefabricated components, quick-connect mechanical systems, and labeled interconnectors reduced setup time and labor demands. Weatherhaven supervisors trained local personnel in Spanish, ensuring sustainable in-country capability. Beyond delivery, our Repair & Overhaul and In-Service Support programs provide long-term readiness, extending equipment life and protecting Chile’s investment. The result: six high-performance, rapidly deployed 100-bed hospitals delivered successfully, safely, and on schedule.
