Weatherhaven delivered a fully equipped 100-bed field hospital to Sierra Leone, mobilising complete shelter systems, containerised facilities, power, water, and medical infrastructure as detailed in the client driven requirement. Every component, from shelter frames and insulated covers to electrical boards and HVAC systems was pre-engineered for rapid deployment. The result was a scalable, resilient healthcare facility capable of immediate operation, providing critical surge capacity exactly when Sierra Leone needed it most.
The facility incorporated Weatherhaven’s modular Series 4 shelter systems, including corridor frames, vestibules, insulated covers, aluminium connectors, and anchoring systems. Double-door wind kits, insulated wall sections, and integrated flooring systems ensured environmental control and durability. All components were pre-packed in transport-efficient crates for rapid installation on arrival. This engineered approach reduced assembly time while delivering structural integrity and infection-control-ready medical spaces.

Containerised Medical Units Expanded Operational Capability
To complement the soft shelter structures, containerised ISO facilities were deployed for clinical, support, and specialist functions. These included staff ablutions, toilet and shower units, morgue facilities, and insulated medical rooms with polyurethane foam panels and anti-bacterial flooring. Pre-installed split air-conditioning systems, power inlets, and secure access doors enabled fast commissioning. This hybrid model combined rapid assembly with permanent-grade durability and hygiene standards.

Advanced HVAC and Negative Pressure Infection Control Systems
The Sierra Leone hospital was equipped with portable air conditioning systems, extractor fans with HEPA filtration, negative pressure capability, and flexible duct connections. High-performance ventilation units ensured controlled airflow across isolation areas, protecting both patients and medical personnel. Stackable HVAC units and ducted connections allowed efficient climate management even in challenging tropical conditions. The result was a medically compliant environment built for infection containment and patient safety.

Integrated Power Distribution and Electrical Infrastructure
Weatherhaven supplied full electrical reticulation systems, including sub-distribution boards, cables, fuel tanks, and main power panels. Shelter lighting assemblies, socket systems, emergency lighting, and monitoring equipment were pre-packed and site-ready. Generator integration ensured uninterrupted operation, while clearly structured power zoning supported ICU, ward, and support areas. This comprehensive infrastructure guaranteed reliability, resilience, and operational continuity in high-demand emergency conditions.

Water Management and Sanitation Systems Fully Integrated
The facility included clean water tanks, septic tanks, grey water management systems, and integrated plumbing connections. Staff ablution units and shower facilities were containerised and pre-fitted for rapid deployment. Durable polyethylene tanks supported sustainable water storage and waste management. By integrating sanitation systems directly into the hospital design, Weatherhaven ensured safe, hygienic operation, critical in outbreak response environments where infection control is paramount.

Fully Furnished, Operationally Ready Healthcare Environment
Beyond structures and utilities, Weatherhaven delivered complete internal fit-outs including desks, filing cabinets, folding chairs, medical-grade furniture, and portable handwash sinks. Internal aluminium doors, powder-coated finishes, and functional layouts created practical clinical environments. Every element was engineered for rapid assembly and immediate use. Upon completion, the Sierra Leone field hospital was not just installed, it was fully operational and ready to save lives.
