Humanitarian needs in Syria prompted urgent medical support. We at Weatherhaven responded swiftly, coordinating with the UAE who donated a 100-bed Weatherhaven field hospital. Within days, plans were agreed for transport of modular shelters. The hospital would be assembled near affected communities, delivering essential medical care. Our commitment to service and compassion drove the project from concept to reality. Thanks to pooled determination and cooperation, what began as an idea became a life-saving facility.

At the core of the hospital design lay our robust Series 4 shelters alongside ISO container shelters. Engineered for extreme conditions, Series 4 offered strength, flexibility and quick assembly. Each shelter measured 6 metres by 10 metres and formed a 10-bed ward module. The ISO containers provided secure medical support areas, storage spaces for medical supplies, and sanitary facilities. This modular combination enabled rapid deployment and durable infrastructure capable of withstanding harsh environments while ensuring patient safety and comfort.

Construction of Syrian Field Hospital

Thanks to meticulous planning and logistics coordination, our team completed the hospital installation in under ten days. Skilled crews worked around the clock, erecting wards and support units with precision. The rapid build-up included ward modules, support facilities and utilities — all integrated seamlessly. Despite challenging weather and terrain, the shelters were erected swiftly and safely. By deploying resources efficiently and utilising pre-fabricated modules, we delivered vital medical capacity faster than conventional construction would allow.

Main corridor of Syrian Field Hospital

The hospital followed a smart, efficient layout centred around a main corridor. On both sides, multiple 10-bed wards provided patient accommodation. Adjacent to wards, we installed medical pharmacies, triage centres and staff support rooms. These annexed facilities connected directly to the corridor for easy access. Utilities such as power, water and sanitation were integrated throughout. The layout ensured smooth flow of patients and staff, facilitating timely care and reducing congestion under pressure, ensuring efficient operations.

Manufacturing and assembly of all shelters occurred at our facilities in the UAE. Working under agreement with the UAE government, we prepared each Series 4 to the highest standards. The completed shelters were then shipped to Syria as part of the government’s generous humanitarian donation. Weatherhaven managed every phase; design, production and deployment, to ensure quality and reliability. The shelters’ robustness and integrity stand as testament to international cooperation and humanitarian goodwill.

During installation in Syria, we engaged local labour forces who helped build the hospital foundations, assemble shelters and manage site logistics. Their involvement fostered community spirit and offered employment opportunities at a crucial time. Local workers collaborated closely with our international team, combining skills and goodwill. Residents welcomed the effort warmly, expressing gratitude for the timely medical support. This inclusive approach strengthened social bonds and demonstrated how humanitarian work can empower communities and deliver relief when it matters most.

Overview of Syria Field Hospital

The field hospital now stands ready to serve patients in urgent need, offering 100 beds, pharmacies, triage and support facilities. In times of crisis, this rapid-deploy hospital provides critical care capacity where traditional infrastructure failed. Our collaborative efforts with the UAE government and local communities highlight what humanitarian partnership can achieve. We at Weatherhaven remain committed to delivering resilient shelter solutions in emergencies. Together, we hope this hospital brings healing, hope and renewed strength to those affected by hardship.
