Tyre Changing Inside MECC Tyre Maintenance Facility

Tyre Maintenance

Rapid tyre maintenance anywhere. Keep your mission moving forward.

Weatherhaven’s MECC™ (Mobile Expandable Container Configuration) and EHMECC (Extended Height) offers a tyre maintenance facility that radically improves field logistics. Instead of shipping tyres back to central depots for repair, your deployed units can change almost every tyre in the military inventory—including runflats—on site. This reduces downtime, supply chain delays, and transport costs. The MECC TMF (Tyre Maintenance Facility) ensures your fleet stays rolling, rather than waiting for external workshops. That readiness has cascading benefits for mission tempo and operational sustainability.

Maintaining tyres in theatre via a containerised facility like Weatherhaven’s MECC offers huge logistical benefit. You avoid long transport chains, reduce fuel, reduce wear and risk during transit, and eliminate waiting on host nation repair capacity. Every tyre change avoided off-site adds up in readiness and cost-savings. The ability to repair or swap tyres where the vehicle already operates means less idle time, fewer breakdowns, and reduced need for spare-tyre stockpiles shipped separately. It saves dollars, lives, and mission flexibility.

Tyre Maintenance Facility Interior

Weatherhaven’s MECC shelters deliver a rugged, insulated, and spacious working environment once expanded. Built with a steel or aluminium ISO-core and fabric shelter technology, they provide large internal floor space—up to three times that of conventional modules of the same shipping footprint. Surfaces are designed for extreme weather, with insulation, durable flooring, wide doors, lighting and HVAC so technicians can work in comfort and safety. The extended-height MECC (EHMECC) adds additional vertical clearance where needed.

Moving tires into Tyre Maintenance Facility

Included in the MECC Tire Storage Facility are special racks for storing vehicle tyres, allowing you to rotate tyres through as they are assessed or damaged. Tyres can be kept in good condition and staged ready for immediate use or repair, reducing delays. By having a compact rack system inside the containerised solution, you avoid clutter, preserve tyre integrity, and ensure immediate access. This helps continuous operations without waiting for supply resupply.

Tyre Maintenance Facility packed away in MECC

Every tool, piece of equipment, and accessory required for tyre maintenance can be stowed inside the MECC during transit. In its collapsed or “packed” ISO container form, all tyre-changing machinery—jacks, air lines, bead breakers, tools—is secured inside. That means no external trailers or loose gear to lose or damage. The container meets ISO and CSC certification, locks securely, and equipment is protected against theft and weather until deployed.

Vehicle Workshop With Tyre MAintenance Facility

Weatherhaven designs the MECC TMF so that it can be complexed—i.e. connected and integrated—with other MECCs, EHMECCs, softwall shelters or broader workshop and maintenance infrastructures. This allows a tyre maintenance facility to form part of a larger vehicle maintenance workshop or base camp, sharing power, HVAC, logistics, personnel access, and workflow. Doors, utility hookups, and modular design support this. Whether as a standalone TMF or part of a complex, the MECC adapts.

Weatherhaven supports client-customised tool requirements. If you have preferred brands or types of tyre maintenance tools—diagnostic machines, tyre changers, balancing rigs, inflators, pressure-testing gear—they can be integrated into the MECC layout. The engineering & design team properly plans for space, anchoring, power, lighting, and safety. Wiring, mounts and stowage are built in. So you can deploy your existing equipment inside a hardened and transportable MECC, rather than adapt to generic tools.

Tyre Maintenance Facility Tyre Storage

Weatherhaven’s TMF in the MECC is built to work with almost every military tyre type, including runflat tyres, pneumatic tyres of varied size, and armoured vehicle tyres. The facility can change, inspect, repair, and rotate these tyres in theatre. Even armoured fighting vehicle tyres, which are heavy and unwieldy, are accommodated via the storage racks and suitably configured tools. Whether pneumatic, semi-solid or resilient runflat, the MECC can manage them in situ.

Tyre Maintenance Facility Being Transported

Because the MECC in its transit form is a standard 20-foot ISO CSC-certified container, it transports as any other ISO container. It can go by road, rail, sea—and even be loaded by forklifts, cranes, or underslung by aircraft. Once on site, it expands to full facility size. The extended-height version increases interior height when needed. The container locks down securely during transit, protecting both structure and content. So relocation, redeployment, and multi-modal transport are straightforward.
