When the project call came in for East Africa, the Weatherhaven team moved immediately from planning to action. Within days, engineering leads, project managers, and logistics coordinators aligned schedules, freight routes, and equipment allocations. The 70-foot-wide, 70-foot-long, galvanized steel aircraft hangar had to be delivered and erected within a single week. Drawing on previous rapid deployments, we mobilised materials, tools, and specialized crew members while preparing to integrate and train a capable local workforce onsite.

Executing a project of this scale in just seven days required seamless coordination. International shipping timelines were synchronized with ground transport across challenging terrain. Heavy machinery, lifting equipment, lighting systems, and structural components arrived in carefully staged phases. Our team supported customs, offloading, storage, and site sequencing without delays. Every delivery window mattered. By aligning people, plant, and materials precisely, we transformed a complex logistical puzzle into a streamlined operation.

Hangar Frame Complete

Once onsite, construction began immediately. The 70-foot-wide galvanised steel structure was engineered for strength, corrosion resistance, and long-term durability. Each structural member was assembled methodically, ensuring alignment, integrity, and structural stability. Despite the demanding climate, the prefabricated design enabled rapid assembly without compromising quality. The steel framework rose quickly, forming a clear-span aircraft hangar capable of accommodating aviation assets securely while maintaining generous internal working space.

Hangar Final Inspection

A defining element of this project was collaboration. Our experienced team leaders worked side by side with skilled members of the local workforce, combining global expertise with regional knowledge. This partnership accelerated progress and strengthened quality control. Training occurred in real time, transferring technical know-how while empowering local crews, an outcome that extended value beyond the structure itself.

Beyond the steel frame, the hangar was outfitted with essential operational features. Integrated lighting systems ensured optimal visibility for maintenance and aircraft handling, even during night operations. The electrically operated main door provided smooth, reliable access for aircraft movement, while separate personnel doors allowed safe and efficient entry for staff. Every component was selected for durability and ease of maintenance, ensuring dependable performance in a remote and demanding environment.

Scissor lift assistance for hangar frames

East Africa’s environment can be unforgiving, with heat, dust, and variable weather conditions testing any structure. This hangar was purpose-built to withstand those challenges. Galvanised steel resists corrosion, while the robust design ensures structural resilience for years of continuous use. Despite the austere setting, our team maintained strict safety and quality standards throughout the build. Precision planning and disciplined execution allowed us to meet the aggressive timeline without compromise.

Interior with low light

In just one week, an empty site was transformed into a fully operational aircraft hangar. The project stands as a testament to what can be achieved through preparation, teamwork, and decisive leadership. By managing logistics, coordinating manpower, and delivering technical excellence, the Weatherhaven team provided the client with infrastructure designed for longevity. The finished hangar now offers reliable protection and operational efficiency that will support aviation activities for many years to come.
