Airmax LP Inflatable Field Hospital Delivered to Europe

Weatherhaven delivered a deployable Role 1 hospital, integrating Airmax LP shelters for strength, flexibility, and rapid readiness in demanding crisis environments.

Airmax LP Set Up as Military Field Hospital Ground View

Weatherhaven completed a flagship project to design, supply, and integrate a complete Role 1 hospital facility for rapid deployment in crisis situations. This demanding contract required precision engineering, durability, and speed of setup in the field, all while adhering to strict technical specifications.

At the heart of this solution was our Airmax LP inflatable shelter, a product of our engineering team’s expertise and our designers’ commitment to operational practicality. The project demanded more than just delivering shelters, it required creating a fully operational, interconnected medical facility capable of functioning in challenging environments. The Airmax LP was the cornerstone, setting the standard for strength, flexibility, and rapid readiness.

Airmax LP Set Up as Military Field Hospital

Each Airmax LP shelter measured 6.0m in length by 5.7m in width, with a centre height of 2.8m, providing ample internal space for medical operations. Built with a 30cm air beam diameter, these shelters were not only stable but also able to withstand the rigors of repeated deployment. The shelters’ double-sided PVC-coated polyester fabric ensured flame resistance, waterproofing, and mildew resistance, while the anti-skid PVC-coated polyester flooring added both safety and durability. Designed for speed, the system included a high-performance compressor that inflated each shelter in under 10 minutes. With two main access doors and two side doors, the shelters offered multiple connection points, enabling flexible layouts using our fabric interconnectors. This connectivity ensured that the facility could adapt to varied medical workflows and site constraints.

Inside Airmax hospital ward

In addition to the inflatable shelters, we provided a robust power infrastructure built around two 9.2kW diesel generators and a primary 70kW diesel generator, ensuring reliable, uninterrupted power across all systems. Electrical engineers designed and installed a distribution network using bespoke portable distribution boxes, 400V and 230V heavy-duty extension cables, and power points. This setup supported climate control units, medical equipment, lighting, and the various auxiliary systems. The facility’s climate control was managed through 10.5kW nominal cooling and 10.8kW heating capacity portable environmental control units, engineered to function both inside and outside the shelters, giving flexibility in various weather conditions.

Inside Airmax airbeam hosptial

Our design team prioritised comfort and usability without compromising operational resilience. The Airmax LP’s olive-green fabric helped to moderate internal temperatures. Inside, washable flame-retardant inner liners added insulation, hygiene, and ease of cleaning—essential in a medical environment. Cabin separations were manufactured specifically for the Airmax LP shelters to create distinct triage, treatment, and recovery zones, enabling efficient patient flow. Weatherhaven LED lighting strips provided bright, reliable illumination, while portable stainless steel hand wash units, each with fresh water and wastewater tanks, supported stringent hygiene protocols. Every element, from lighting to water systems, was designed for durability and ease of transport, matching the mobility requirements of crisis response.

Airmax LP Exterior Medical

The Airmax LP shelters’ success was not solely the result of the product’s design but of the collaboration between our engineers and designers. Engineers ensured compliance with every technical standard, optimising the air beam structure, compressor systems, and electrical integration. Designers focused on creating a human-centered workspace, comfortable for medical staff yet practical for rapid setup and dismantling.

Airmax LP Interior Medical

Training and support formed the final layer of our delivery. Recognizing that equipment is only as effective as the team operating it, we deployed our technical specialists to location to train over 20 local personnel in installation, operation, and maintenance. This hands-on training ensured that the client’s team could independently deploy and sustain the facility under real-world conditions. Our after sales commitment will guarantee operational continuity for this Role 1 medical facility throughout its service life.
