Investing in effective Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools plays a critical role for our company in improving our innovation, safety, manufacturing, competitiveness and response time in serving customers.
Autodesk Inventor
Weatherhaven deploys a full suite of Autodesk Inventor software to more effectively design portable shelters and camp infrastructure designed for use in the most rugged and remote locations around the world. This effective and demonstrable use of the Autodesk toolset helped become a winner of the Autodesk Inventor of the Month award. By adopting the Autodesk solution for digital engineering creation and design verification, Weatherhaven gains speed that is crucial, particularly when it comes to emergency management situations. Weatherhaven shelters have support activities ranging from earthquake relief efforts in Haiti to scientific expeditions in Antarctica and peacekeeping missions in the Sahara Desert. Inventor software helps to reduce the time required to create and deploy the shelters where specific designs or design modifications are required. With modern day flexible enterprise licensing servers Weatherhaven is able to collaborate between our global manufacturing facilities quickly and easily, enabling engineers to maintain focus on safety requirements, even as they optimise designs and lower the overall weight of the shelter.
OpenFOAM®
Weatherhaven’s drive to ensure its shelters remain global market leaders means we must design for specific regions, specific customer requirements, and varied regional deployed operational environments. We need to be able to demonstrate to our clients that our shelters do what we say they can do. The OpenFOAM Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) suite enables our engineers to run in-depth simulations of static and dynamic wind loadings on all aspects of our shelters.
Nastran
Clearly the most critical feature of any shelter is the ability to maintain structural integrity under a variety of loading conditions. This is paramount for the safety of people and protection of assets for which the shelter provides for and therefore Weatherhaven utilises Autodesk® Nastran® Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software for our linear and nonlinear stress, and dynamics, of structures and mechanical components. The benefits of this upfront investment reduces prototype expenditure and clearly demonstrates to clients thorough accurate analysis that our shelters exceed the performance requirements.
Rhino 3d
Rhino 3D is an essential business software tool for Weatherhaven, it enables us to sit with a client and immediately start modelling their shelter or camp layouts in order to quickly facilitate an understanding of the client requirements. It’s true that a picture paints a thousand words, being able to turn around a visual render of a proposed camp layout to a client within minutes is critical to moving our project forward with accuracy and speed.
